Atlas VPN is a fast-growing VPN provider. I’ve reviewed several VPNs, but I was surprised by Atlas VPN’s amazing growth rate. However, Atlas VPN offers many competitive features, such as a zero-logging policy, 5GB of free traffic per month, unlimited simultaneous connections, support for unlocking overseas streams such as Netflix, ad and network tracking blockers, and compatibility with all popular platforms. In addition, Atlas VPN has so many competitive advantages at a much lower price, which is probably one reason it has more than 6 million customers in just a few years.
In this Atlas VPN review article, I’ve compiled information about Atlas VPN’s advantages and disadvantages, customer service, payment methods, and refund policy to help you get to know Atlas VPN better.

What is Atlas VPN?
Atlas VPN is a VPN provider founded in 2019 and headquartered in New York, U.S. Atlas VPN is a newcomer to the VPN industry and has gained over 6 million users in just a few years. Atlas VPN has received 4.8 stars (based on 87,500 reviews) and 4.8 stars (based on 5,100 reviews) from Google Play and the APP Store. And its high price ratio is one of the reasons why so many users have recognized Atlas VPN.
Atlas VPN is not as well known as ExpressVPN or NordVPN, but the fact that it offers a free VPN has quickly opened up the market in the VPN industry, combined with its fast server connection speeds and low price, and has forced people to choose it. Nord Security acquired it in 2021; Atlas VPN and NordVPN are part of the same company. Atlas VPN is worth considering if you’re looking for a full-featured and budget-friendly VPN.
Atlas VPN Pros
Atlas VPN is headquartered in New York, USA, an eye-country organization that is not a good place for privacy. It’s not like ExpressVPN, which may be a concern for users concerned about their online privacy. However, after some research, I found that Atlas VPN has a strict zero-logging policy, and Versprite, a third-party reviewer, has independently audited it.
Fast and stable network connectivity with 750 servers in 43 locations worldwide
Atlas VPN, a newcomer to the VPN industry, currently has over 750 servers in 37 countries and regions worldwide. Africa does not currently offer any servers.
- Europe: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom
- North America: United States, Canada, Mexico
- Asia: Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Singapore, United Arab Emirates
- Oceania: Australia, New Zealand
- South America: Argentina, Brazil, Chile
Atlas VPN is a newcomer to the VPN industry, and its rapid growth has a lot to do with its fast and stable network connection speed. As you can see from the Atlas VPN server speed test data below, Atlas VPN’s server speed is not much worse than those of well-known VPNs.
The original location of this speed test is Malaysia, which is relatively close to Taiwan, with 500 Mbps bandwidth and WirdGuard protocol. And according to the speed test results, the download speed of the original server is 530.38 Mbps, and the upload speed is 484.55 Mbps without an Atlas VPN connection.
|Download Speed(Mbps)||Upload Speed(Mbps)||Network Latency(ms)|
|Los Angeles, USA||441.85||213.00||177|
To conduct a comprehensive speed test of Atlas VPN, we selected different Atlas VPNs according to their physical proximity to Malaysia. Based on the final speed test results, we found that the closest server to Malaysia, Singapore, performed the best, with almost no difference in download speed and very low network latency, followed by Australia.
For the more distant servers in North America and Europe, it was clear that the European server in Frankfurt, Germany performed better, as most of the Atlas VPN servers are located in Europe. The Los Angeles server was the worst performer, but download speeds and network latency were not particularly bad and were even better than some well-known VPNs.
Atlas VPN’s server speed is commendable, which is a big surprise to me since Atlas VPN is so much cheaper than well-known VPNs.
Support for unlocking Internet streaming and P2P download
With the Atlas VPN server speed test, you can find that Atlas VPN’s fast and stable server connection speed can ensure you can access the Internet and watch videos safely and quickly. In addition, Atlas VPN also supports unlocking overseas streaming services such as Netflix, HBO MAX, Disney+, etc. Atlas VPN provides a dedicated server for live web streaming, and you can even watch 4K quality movies and TV shows through it.
Atlas VPN provides a dedicated server for unlocking overseas web streaming services, a feature not available on free VPNs. When you activate Atlas VPN, you will see two types of servers in the software interface, “Streaming” and “Privacy Pro.” “Streaming” is dedicated to Internet streaming services, while “Privacy Pro” provides additional privacy protection to choose a different server according to your needs.
Streaming Servers: Japan, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Canada, United States, Australia
In addition, all Atlas VPN servers are optimized for P2P downloads, and each server provides friendly support for P2P downloads.
Cross the firewall in mainland China
As we all know, very few VPNs are available in China, and many well-known VPNs have given up on the Chinese market, with only ExpressVPN being able to upgrade as the Chinese firewall is updated. However, we are excited to see that Atlas VPN can successfully cross the Chinese firewall as well, which further enhances Atlas VPN’s competitive edge.
|Download Speed(Mbps)||Upload Speed(Mbps)||Network Latency(ms)|
|New York, USA||18.52||10.68||278|
|Buenos Aires, Argentina||1.39||8.49||404|
To see how Atlas VPN’s server speed performs in mainland China? We selected different servers in different regions for speed testing. Our initial network environment is located in Northern China. The network provider is China Mobile, the network bandwidth is 50 Mbps, the test device is macOS, and the network protocol is IPSec/IEKv2. We conducted two-speed tests for each server during the speed test and selected the best results.
Although Atlas VPN also offers servers in Japan and Hong Kong, which are closer to China, I found the Singapore server more stable after my experience with the network provider. In addition, Atlas VPN’s server connection speed has been very stable, and there has been no big drop in Asia, Europe, and North America. At the same time, the performance in South America and Oceania is very poor.
Unlimited simultaneous connections
VPN providers have considered this, so most VPN providers generally offer a limit of 5 simultaneous connections. Atlas VPN, like Surfshark VPN, does not limit the number of devices that can be connected simultaneously. So you can use Atlas VPN on your smartphone, desktop, laptop, smart TV, gaming console at your smartphone, desktop, laptop, or smart TV, and gaming console simultaneously.
Although Atlas VPN is already cheap, if you want to save money, you can choose to share your account with your family, classmates, or friends to save money.
Free version available with 5000 MB per month traffic limit
The rapid growth of Atlas VPN in a short time has a lot to do with the fact that it offers a free VPN, which provides 5000 MB of free traffic per month for users to experience its products and services firsthand. However, the free version of Atlas VPN only has three free servers – Los Angeles, New York, and Amsterdam, and there is no speed limit on network connections.
If you’re searching the web for monthly information, the free version of Atlas VPN is more than enough for you. If you want to watch overseas streaming services or need more server connections, you need to pay to upgrade and unlock more advanced features.
Provides WireGuard and IPSEC/IKEv2 network security protocols
Atlas VPN offers two main network security protocols, WireGuard and IPSEC/IEKv2, the two most commonly used protocols today. Atlas VPN is also available in China, but the IKEv2 protocol performs better on macOS computers. But you can test different protocols separately when you use it or set it to Auto via the You can also set the Atlas VPN software program to Auto. Atlas VPN will automatically select the best protocol for you.
Compatibility with all popular platforms
Atlas VPN currently supports all popular platforms and devices, including iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS. You can also download and install the Atlas VPN client if you are a Linux user. In addition, as I mentioned earlier, Atlas VPN can unlock Internet streaming services, which is great news for those who like to watch overseas movies and TV shows on their Smart TVs. Atlas VPN provides a dedicated software program for Android TV and Amazon Fire TV, so you can use it on your Smart TV by simply downloading and installing it. You can use Atlas VPN on your smart TV by simply downloading and installing it.
Atlas VPN does not have a limit on the number of devices connected at the same time, allowing you to add security to multiple devices. However, Atlas VPN does not support routers yet, but the team is working hard on this feature.
Provides tracking blocker and network security features
Now, everyone is worried about Internet security when surfing the Internet, fearing that their personal information will be leaked, which is one of the reasons why we use VPNs when surfing the Internet. A blocker is a tool that helps you avoid third-party tracking and protects your privacy, providing you with a safe and ad-free Internet experience.
However, the free version of Atlas VPN already offers Safeswap and is pre-enabled. But if you want to enable Safeswap Plus, which blocks ads, you’ll need to pay for an upgrade.
Provides advanced security features
Atlas VPN uses Private DNS and AES-256 encryption technology to protect users’ network security in case of emergencies. In addition, Atlas VPN also provides Split Tunneling and Kill Switch features, but I found that Split Tunneling is only supported on Android devices.
Atlas VPN also provides a more secure server to protect personal user data. When you open the Atlas VPN software interface, you will see that Atlas VPN offers a dedicated Privacy Pro server. When you click on the “Privacy Pro” menu, you will find two other types of servers, SafeSwap Servers, and MultiHop+ Servers.
- SafeSwap Servers: Singapore, Netherlands, United States
- MultiHop+ Servers: Europe, North America
SafeSwap Servers is the first technology Atlas VPN adopted in the industry to ensure that you have multiple network IP addresses without switching servers, making network tracing much more difficult. MultiHop + Servers is Atlas VPN’s way of randomly selecting multiple servers for you and using double or even multiple encryptions, effectively hiding your real IP and allowing you to access the Internet safely and anonymously.
24/7 Email and online chat customer service
Atlas VPN offers different customer support services for different users, as it is available in free and paid versions. For free users, Atlas VPN offers 24/7 email support; for paid users, Atlas VPN offers online live support and email support. However, before you can get live support through the official website, you need to log in to your account to prove that you are a paid VIP user to get support.
30-day Money-Back Guarantee
Like most other VPN providers, Atlas VPN offers users a 30-day refund guarantee. However, there is a limit according to Atlas VPN’s refund policy. Atlas VPN offers a 30-day refund guarantee for new users on monthly and long-term pricing plans, but Atlas VPN will not enforce the 30-day refund guarantee the second time it is used on a long-term subscription pricing plan.
Atlas VPN Cons
A relatively low number of servers
Atlas VPN is a newcomer to the VPN industry and doesn’t offer many global servers compared to the well-known ExpressVPN and NordVPN. However, although the server size of Atlas VPN is small, the speed and stability of its servers are very reliable. If you want to choose a VPN with larger servers, I recommend ExpressVPN, which currently has over 3,000 servers in 94 countries worldwide.
No China Servers
Although Atlas VPN has over 750 servers, it does not have any servers in mainland China, nor does it provide any virtual servers in mainland China. Although Atlas VPN can cross the Chinese firewall, it does not provide Chinese IP address. If you are a frequent user of Internet services in Mainland China or like to watch Mainland China movies and TV shows, you can choose Cyberghost VPN, which has servers in Shenzhen, China.
Headquartered in New York, USA
Atlas VPN is based in the United States, one of the eye-country organizations, which may be worrisome for those concerned about their personal information. Still, as mentioned in the previous article, Atlas VPN has a strict zero-blogging policy. It does not store any of your online histories and certainly does not have any information to identify you. If you are more concerned about Atlas VPN being based in the US, we recommend ExpressVPN or Surfshark VPN, which are based in a user privacy haven.
Atlas VPN Pricing Plan
Atlas VPN offers four pricing plans: a free version, a monthly plan, an annual plan, and a three-year plan. If you don’t know if Atlas VPN meets your needs, you can try it out with the free version and then consider paying for an upgrade when you feel comfortable.
Atlas VPN subscription plans offer different benefits depending on the length of your subscription. The monthly plan is $10.99 per month; the annual plan is as low as $3.29 per month, a 70% discount; and the three-year plan is as low as $1.99 per month, an 82% discount. If you look at the features of Atlas VPN, it is a very good value VPN.

Atlas VPN Customer Service
Atlas VPN currently offers 24/7 email and online live chat services. Still, the free version of Atlas VPN only offers email support, and online live chat is only available to paid users who log in to their accounts.
Atlas VPN Payment
Atlas VPN offers a full range of payment options, including the common credit card and PayPal, and the popular Google Pay overseas. If privacy is more important to you, Atlas VPN offers a cryptocurrency payment option to secure your privacy better.
Atlas VPN Refund Policy
Atlas VPN offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, but it is primarily available to new users on their first purchase. If you choose a monthly or long-term subscription to Atlas VPN for the first time, you can submit a refund request if unsatisfied. However, if you choose a long-term subscription and submit a refund request, Atlas VPN will not give you a refund. So, this is one of the reasons why I recommend you choose the free version of Atlas VPN to experience it first.

Safe. Although Atlas VPN is part of the Eye Country organization, it has a strict zero-logging policy. An independent third-party auditor has reviewed it, and Atlas VPN does not have any information that can identify you. In addition, Atlas VPN provides AES-256 encryption, WireGuard network protocol, Safeswap Servers, MultiHop+ Servers, Split Tunneling, VPN Kill Switch, and many other advanced protection features to ensure the privacy of your network and protect your personal information.

Atlas VPN is a newcomer to the VPN industry. Still, it is a very versatile and affordable solution with many competitive features, like 750+ servers with super fast speeds, no limit on the number of devices connected at the same time, full platform support, breaking the Chinese firewall, unlocking overseas streaming services, Safeswap Servers, MultiHop+ Servers, Tracker Blocker, and more.
